The beggar Prince

Once upon a time, in one of the southern kingdoms, there lived a beautiful queen who had everything people of that era could dream of. Her wealth was not limited to gold and jewels – her gardens, which emanated a heavenly fragrance all year round, and the lilting songs of birds nesting in her bushes, were just as treasured. The people admired her not only for her beauty but also for her heart, for she cherished the fine arts and cared lovingly for her subjects. Tick, Tock, Death …

Tick Tock – Time Slips Away
Tick tock – man turns to child
Tick tock – ashes to dust
And leaves fall from trees, as they must

Tick tock – the course of life
Tick tock – no one halts its strife
Tick tock – welcome to the ride
Sometimes joyful, sometimes a rough tide

Tick tock – so the hours pass
Tick tock – the hands spin fast
Tick tock – the circle of pain
You cannot escape it, that much is plain

Tick tock – hour by hour we’re bound
Tick tock – a circle, always round
Tick tock – the echo in the dark
Don’t you hear the ghosts remark?

Tick tock – the circle grows tight
Tick tock – comes the dark reaper’s night
Tick – he’s sharpened his scythe for you
The tock, he’s taken – quiet and true …

King War!

The king loudly calls for war,
Dreams of riches, power, and more.
Laughing, he sends his men away,
Into the distance, to death’s cold sway.

In foreign lands, man fights with man,
Where friendship otherwise could span.
War laughs as it sweeps the land,
Bringing sorrow, tears, and death’s cold hand.

Struck down, the son lies by the way,
He fell for the fatherland, they say.
At home, the mother’s heart does break,
For the unthinkable grief she must take.

Steel sings, the soul does shatter,
When the rich grow richer, nothing else matters.
And the earth swallows countless tears,
As the silent dead confirm our fears …
